A worthwhile thought experiment is to imagine the response by U.S. officials if Russia was doing what we and NATO have been doing and began placing ballistic missiles anywhere in our so called "backyard" or "frontward." I used to think the Joint Chiefs under Kennedy must have been the most bat-shit crazy group of war-mongers in U.S. history, but unfortunately I keep having to revise and update that misconception regularly.
